2016 NRL Penrith Panthers v Vodafone Warriors
The NRL is set to return to Christchurch with Penrith Panthers bringing their Round 10 home game against New Zealand Warriors to AMI Stadium on Saturday 14th May, 2016.
Christchurch is a sports mad city but hasn’t seen an NRL game since 2010. The time is now for the great sport to return as the Panthers make the city their home away from home and commit to the promotion and development of rugby league in Canterbury through community initiatives. website
2015 Palmerston North Ice Rink
The outdoor ice rink is returning to Palmerston North for a third season but this time its not just the ice rink, we also have a brand new addition to the ice world family the FUN Slide! The fun slide is a slide of snow and ice and its just like sliding down a hill side in a toboggan!
This is an activity for the whole family to enjoy in an atmosphere that is exhilarating as Palmerston North Square is transformed into a winter wonderland.
You will be transported to a world of snow and ice so come on down and experience it for yourself.
2014 PBR NEW ZEALAND
Professional Bull Riders made its debut in New Zealand as part of New Zealand Cup and Show week in Christchurch. 22 of the worlds best bull riders competed on 48 of New Zealand's best bucking bulls to win the first ever PBR New Zealand Cup.
Congratulations to Mervyn Church from Rotorua. He bet out the worlds number 1 to become the New Zealand Cup champion.
2014 INTERNATIONAL ICE HOCKEY
Once again Australia exceeded all expectations five games in four cities- Perth, Brisbane, Melbourne and Sydney, and over 70,000 spectators.
The passion and integrity of the teams was next level. They played five high intensity, adrenalin soaked games showcasing the speed and skill of professional Ice Hockey never seen before in Australia. Congratulations USA - 2014 Douglas Webber Cup Champions in the International Ice Hockey Australian Tour.
2013 INTERNATIONAL ICE HOCKEY CANADA VS USA AUSTRALIA TOUR
The series was received with overwhelming support with 18,000 people over two nights at Melbourne's Hisense Arena and over 20,000 in Sydney, the largest crowd to ever attend a sporting event at Allphones arena.
2011 INTERNATIONAL ICE HOCKEY CANADA VS USA NEW ZEALAND TOUR
International Ice Hockey made its debut in New Zealand with Canada and the USA going head to head in an unbelievable display of speed, skill, adrenaline and aggression.
Three sold out shows at Auckland's Vector Arena, Christchurch's CBS Canterbury Arena and Dunedin's Ice Stadium.
2007-09 NZ INTERNATIONAL RODEO
The idea of putting rodeo indoors for the first time in New Zealand was an exciting one and on November 17th 2007 that dream was realized.
More than 7000 cowboys and cowgirls flocked to Westpac Arena to see competitors from New Zealand, Australia, USA, Canada and Brazil in the biggest stand off between man and beast ever seen in this country.
There wasn't a spare seat in the house and with the rodeo being cemented inside the Cup & Show Week programme, the International Rodeo has a long life ahead with plans to expand the show in a number of areas.
2007 Jim Beam FMX
Jim Beam saw a great alignment with the bourbon brand and FMX so were happy to support the extreme sport as it was taken from town to town around New Zealand.
The Jim Beam FMX tour began in Hamilton, heading south through Palmerston North, Wellington and Christchurch before the finale in Dunedin. The shows took place outside nightclubs with the closure of main streets which created incredible atmosphere for the brands exposure. Spectators were treated to a night of FMX from three local riders in the company of the Jim Beam Party Crew. The objectives of the Jim Beam tour were met beyond expectation, it gave a 'brand experience' second to none and made Jim Beam the household name associated to the sport amongst spectators and the FMX industry. Building on the success of the previous Jim Beam FMX tour, six new towns were chosen to expose the brand to with the sport at the beginning of 2007. With the public more familiar with FMX and tricks having evolved to having backflips and inverted tricks, international riders were used on tour as well as new lighting effects and LPG flame throwers which brought the street parties to a roar of excitement.
2007 THE BALL
Moving away from extreme sports and into a Charity Gala, Douglas and his team produced "The Ball". It was designed to change the perceptions of charity function offering up-beat entertainment and a let-loose attitude.
The Ball began with a "Playboy" theme then "Casino Royale" with guests encouraged to dress to the theme, leave their inhibitions at the door and party like never before. All proceeds went to a chosen children's charity.
AutoX is a consumer show incorporating a lot of things in the automotive industry and beyond. Cars, boats and bikes are just the beginning once you begin to explore the world of transport, so soon AutoX was showcasing Segways, motorised surfboards, jetskis, hovercrafts and more.
The entertainment of the Summer Nats remain at AutoX as well as added family attractions like carnival rides, face painters, RC racing, pitbike racing and entertainers.
AutoX remains an annual event held by the Douglas Webber Group, attracting more families each year. Since the 2006 event the show has grown to include not only automotive exhibits, but everything considered in the 'boys toys' line.
Bikefest was the all-round bike enthusiasts dream. An endurance trail ride spanning two days around the hills of Hanmer Springs, show 'n' shine and a street cruise was followed bya party of gigantic proportions with entertainment including live bands, FMX and a bikini jam.2006 NZ FREESTYLE MOTOX CHAMPIONSHIP
High flying motorcycle riders took to the air when 20 of Australasia's best Freestyle MotoX riders gathered in Christchurch for the first ever Protranz Earthmoving New Zealand Freestyle MotoX Championship to be held outdoors at Ruapuna Speedway in March 2006.
Competitors each had 3 minutes to perform a plethora of tricks on 3 dirt landers and had the choice of 7 takeoff ramps including 2 backflip superkickers. Weather delayed the event for 1 ½ hours but once the show began spectators found it well worth the wait.2006 SUMMER NATS
The New Zealand Summer Nats was a showcase of the best in performance cars combined with entertainment like burn-out competitions, bikini jams, live bands and FMX.
The event was aimed at a youth demographic and attracted almost 8,000 in its first year.2005 NZ JETSKI MARATHON
In 2005 Douglas diversified into other extreme sports with the development of the New Zealand Jetski Marathon. Hundreds of competitors were to race across cook straight, from Picton to Wellington and back again!
Stretching over 50km, this was an endurance race to be reckoned with but as luck would have it, weather prohibited the proposed course being used and an alternative course around the bays of Blenheim was plotted.
Despite the initial disappointment of the new course, the event was still a great success which was filmed for Sky Sport.2004 FREESTYLE MOTO XXX MISSION SERIES
With freestyle motocross at its peak, the mission series was produced to tour the country.
The series consisted of six missions to Timaru, Invercargill. Napier, Taranaki, Palmerston North and Blenheim showcasing top international and local riders with stunning special effects and added entertainment and attractions wowing the 40,000 plus spectators around New Zealand and satisfying sponsors.2004 CRUSTY DEMONS GLOBAL ASSAULT TOUR
Following on from the success of the Supercross and Gravity games, Craig was called up to promote the first Crusty Demons show in New Zealand.
Crusty Demons Global Assault tour was the most mind bending action sport extravaganza to be staged in New Zealand.
A group of daredevil FMX riders from USA, Australia, NZ and Europe performed synchronized stunts and never seen before maneuvers in a rock and roll production. The tour hit record breaking ticket sales with one show in Auckland.2003 SUPERCROSS & GRAVITY GAMES
The major event journey began in 2003 with the Supercross and gravity games. As an ex Motorcross rider, Craig recognised the potential in the sport to become a massive production of supercross and freestyle motorcross.
It was the first of it's kind in the country and attracted the best riders from across the globe to compete for the Supercorss trophy. The event attracted 13,000 spectators over two nights of spectacular sporting feats in Christchurch.
